About Float North Georgia
Hey, I’m Zac Brooks — owner and guide at Float North Georgia. I’ve spent most of my life exploring the North Georgia mountains and waters around Blue Ridge, and I built this guide service for people who want a relaxed, real day outside — with as much coaching (or as little) as you want
Meet Zac Brooks (Owner & Guide)
I’m a local guide based in Blue Ridge, Georgia, and I love sharing the kind of days that made me fall in love with fishing in the first place — good conversations, mountain scenery, and learning something new every time you’re on the water. Whether it’s your first time holding a fly rod or you’ve been at it for years, my goal is simple: keep it fun, appreciate the surroundings, and help you leave more confident than you showed up
Patient, beginner friendly coaching
Laid-back pace with a focus on learning
Conservation minded
Tailor trips to your skill level
Why I Started Float North Georgia
Float North Georgia started because I wanted to create a guide service that feels like fishing with a friend who genuinely cares about the experience — not just the result. Some days the fishing is lights-out. Some days it isn’t. Either way, you’re still out there in a special place, learning and enjoying the beauty of the mountains.
If you’re looking for a trip that’s equal parts fishing + experience, you’re in the right spot.
My Approach on the Water
On a day with me, you can expect:
Simple instruction (casting, drifts, mending, reading water)
A no-pressure vibe (we’ll match your pace and your goals)
Coaching that fits you (some people want to learn a ton, some want to relax — both are great)
Respect for the resource (conservation approach and a focus on keeping the fishery healthy)
Based in Blue Ridge, Georgia
I’m based in Blue Ridge, GA and spend a lot of time on local waters in the area. When conditions line up, that includes stretches of the Toccoa River — one of the most iconic fisheries in North Georgia.
